Solidaridad Internacional Kanda, A.C. is a non-profit, non-partisan organization based in Oaxaca, founded in 2009, that promotes sustainable local development in communities living in context of marginalization.
We work in the area surrounding the largest metropolitan landfill in Oaxaca, a place where institutional neglect, poverty, and marginalization prevent over 15,000 residents from exercising their rights.
This area received between 700 and 1,000 kilograms of waste daily from the state capital and 22 neighboring municipalities for 40 years until its closure in late 2022. Despite the closure of the landfill, the remaining community lives with the consequences.
We facilitate and support participatory processes for harmonious and sustainable development to improve the quality of life for people in Mexico and other countries. We are convinced that through awareness and collaboration across different sectors of society, both nationally and internationally, a fair and equitable world can be achieved.
