Impeccably clean and undeniably mixable, Singani 63 is a 500 year old Bolivian spirit distilled high in the Andes from Muscat of Alexandria grapes. And it has quite the story to tell. A long time ago on a continent far, far, away... A group of Spanish missionaries planted the Muscat of Alexandria grape a mile high in the Bolivian Andes. When the grapes matured at a high altitude, their skins thickened, creating a marvelously unique flavor during the distillation process. Over 100 years ago, the Granier family began distilling Singani and created Casa Real, now the largest Singani distillery in Bolivia and on their fourth generation of ownership. And elsewhere in the world… Steven Soderbergh began filming his movie CHE, set for a 6 month shoot starting in Spain and traveling all over South America. At the opening company celebration in Madrid, the Bolivian casting director gifted Steven a bottle of Singani — Casa Real’s Singani. Steven (and the crew) were so enamored with Singani and baffled at its flavor and how it somehow never left its landlocked country. By the end of the six months, Steven was hooked. He must meet this family, and discuss their intentions. After meeting, the Granier’s and Steven partnered, and Steven brought their premium Singani, now “Singani 63”, to the states. And the rest is history.
