We have designed reed bed treatment plants ever since I had founded this company in 1991. Being the first one to commercially introduce reed bed systems in France, we are largely responsible for the success that this treatment system has today for the treatment of waste water from rural communities in this country (SINT has designed over 500 all over France, including overseas territories) and we have increasingly been asked to design such plants in other countries (Greece, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Morocco…) We (SINT and I) have also acquired nationally recognized competence in the fields of sewage sludge treatment with reed bed filters, of sustainable storm water management and of the management of the quality of standing waters. Under my direction, SINT developed into a company of 15 employees and an annual TO of over 1 M€. In July 2007, I sold most of the activities of SINT to two companies: EPURNATURE which specialises in turn-key reed bed treatment plants and SINBIO, an independent company of consultant engineers specialized in the field of environmental and water engineering, especially natural treatment systems, sustainable urban drainage and restoration of rivers, ponds and lakes. I am an associated partner of these two companies, for whom I now work as a consultant. Today, SINT is my own legal structure to do research, development of technology and training in the field of sanitation, water and wastewater treatment and management. SINT has recently been involved in research projects on sewage sludge and septage treatment in reed bed filters and on the use of apatite for phosphorous removal in constructed wetlands and is at present involved in research projects about extensive treatment systems of drainage water and CSO’s and on the treatment of nitrogen-rich leachates from abandoned land-fill sites with reed bed filters. I have also been involved in further training of French and foreign professionals.
