‘Skek staat voor Stichting Kriterion EetKaffee en is in 2006 opgezet door een vijftal enthousiaste studenten werkzaam bij Studentenpomp Kriterion. Voor hen was het de hoogste tijd om een nieuwe uitdaging aan te gaan. Na drie jaar ontwikkelen, schrijven aan een onderzoeksplan en zoeken naar een pand en leden werd ‘Skek op de Zeedijk een feit.
Het resultaat is een prachtig cultureel eetcafé in hartje Amsterdam. ‘Skek is volledig gebaseerd op het ideaal van de stichting Kriterion (waar ook onder andere bioscoop Kriterion en Studio/K bij horen) om studenten in verenigingsverband de kans te geven om een onderneming van a tot z op te zetten en te runnen. We doen alles zelf, van het maken van eten en het inkopen en tappen van biertjes, tot het ontwerpen van posters en het regelen van optredens. Inmiddels gaat dat al 14 jaar lang goed en worden we door velen als tweede huiskamer gezien.
