Sleep Matters Clinic was founded by Dr Melissa J. Ree in partnership with Paul Jeffery in 2016. At SleepMatters, we work from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia foundation and offer appointments for children (6+), adolescents, and adults, available both in-person and via telehealth. All practitioners at SleepMatters are clinical psychologists with a minimum of six years of university training and have extensive training and experience in helping clients to manage sleep problems, especially insomnia.
In clinic we provide both individual and group CBT-I interventions and, where appropriate, utilise tools such as the SOMFIT (a wearable sleep-monitoring device) and light therapy glasses as part of our assessment and treatment approach. We also offer educational workshops to schools, workplaces, and community groups on sleep health and insomnia management.

· Difficulty adjusting to CPAP therapy for obstructive sleep apnoea
· Excessive daytime fatigue and hypersomnia
· Reducing reliance on sleep medications
· Disruptions associated with shift work
· Treatment for recurrent nightmares
· Identifying and addressing psychological factors impacting sleep (e.g., anxiety, depression, stress)
Our founder, Dr Melissa Ree, designed the CBT-I modules used in-clinic, drawing on over two decades of clinical and academic experience in the treatment of sleep disorders. Melissa completed her clinical psychology and PhD training at the University of Western Australia, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Oxford’s Department of Psychiatry, where she contributed to clinical trials on cognitive therapy for insomnia. Her CBT-I program has been evaluated in a peer-reviewed publication, demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing insomnia symptoms.
