Smiths Rugby is Cheltenham based men’s rugby club with two teams competing in the 8th & 10th Tiers of English Rugby Union.
Based at the 490-seater Prince of Wales Stadium on Tommy Taylors Lane in the centre of Cheltenham Spa, the club was founded in 1952 as part of the Sport & Social club of Smiths Industies.
Taking the rugby seriously on the pitch, but fostering a family friendly, fun and social atmosphere has been the blueprint of our 70-year Rugby club history here in Cheltenham.
The 1st XV team play in the Counties 2 Tribute Gloucestershire North league, having won Tribute Gloucestershire 1 North in 2023 ahead of the restructuring of leagues.
The second team, dubbed Smiths United, compete in the Counties 4 Tribute Gloucestershire League in 2024/25. Smiths United have experienced a resurgence in the last few years and are always looking for players of all ability to join the team.
Team training is at 7:00pm on Thursday evenings at the Prince of Wales Stadium, with a Strength & Conditioning sessions at 7:00pm on Tuesday evenings at the Stronghold Gym in Kingsditch.
We are always looking for new players of all abilities to welcome them into our great club.
