History of establishment and activity: The Petroleum Engineering Research Center of Sahand University of Technology was established in 2001 with the aim of creating coherence in the university's research activities in the field of upstream industries and also in order to train efficient workers for the country's oil industry. This center was upgraded to Sahand Oil and Gas Research Institute (SOGRI) in 2013 by obtaining official permission from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
