The drive towards Net Zero is not new; it has been around for much too long. I strongly recommend Nathaniel Rich's book, "The Decade We Could Have Stopped Climate Change". By 1979, we knew all we needed to know about the science of climate change - what was happening, why it was happening and how to stop it. Over the next 10 years, we had the very real opportunity to stop it. Obviously, we failed then. This decade we must do better!
In the 1970s we talked about the "greenhouse effect". The oil crisis that decade made companies aware of "fuel efficiency". The 80s and 90s brought us "energy efficiency" and the "dash for gas". More recently we've begun discussing "sustainability", "global warming" and the "climate crisis".
Whatever the term was or is, we need to change our energy - not just talk about it.
We need to do something about it now - as if our lives depend upon it.
Very fortunately, EVERYTHING we need to achieve Net Zero is already available to us, and has been for some time. We just need to do the right things, implement those things in the right order, and preferably at the best price with the best suppliers.
