Space&Shake is an initiative that was created in 2015 to promote careers and projects in space (industry, academia) through a set of inspiring conferences and workshop within the CentraleSupelec network. Referring to the first "space handshake" that happened during the Soyuz-Apollo mission in 1975 between a cosmonaut of the Soviet Union and an astronaut of the United States, the objective of this initiative is to promote collaboration in space.
The idea is to gather alumni, students and players in the space sector together, around an inspiring keynote speaker, and present ongoing projects happening in space and create new opportunities.
As today, three initiatives have already been realised:
- Speech of NASA Deputy Administrator Dava Newman in September 2015
- Panel of industry experts (I. Woerner, Director of ESA - J-L. Galle, CEO of Thales Alenia Space - G. Fioraso, French Minister - S. Budimir, Director of Starburst Accelerator) in January 2017
- Speech of G. Shotwell (SpaceX COO) + Space&Shake forum in March 2019
The Space&Shake initiative has always been conveyed in partnership with the student association Symposium and in collaboration with the CentraleSupelec administration.
