Spatialytiks was conceived as a strategic sub-project of my global, on-the-move, and immersive PhD, aiming to provide a practical framework for understanding international business.
During my extensive global fieldwork, I realized that most PhD programs worldwide offer little to no business training. This knowledge, however, is essential for transforming scientific research into viable products and services.
Traditional MBAs were financially out of reach, especially given the nature of my doctoral work. To address this knowledge gap, I registered Spatialytiks as a non-profit organization in London, UK—a renowned global business hub.
Spatialytiks became my alternative business school. For this, I reverse-engineered MBA curricula by studying those of top-tier institutions (Harvard, ESADE, LSE, etc.).
However, theory was only the beginning. I applied the knowledge I gained, conducting geospatial market research in the UK, UAE & other countries. This allowed me to identify jargon, market gaps, competitors, investors, partners, and early adopters for potential Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) that could be developed from scientific findings.
Ultimately, this original idea met all its objectives and provided me with a valuable and practical understanding of international business, particularly in pivotal areas such as finance, marketing, and law.
Additionally, I leveraged this unique experience to secure a partnership with Business Radar, a Dutch startup. Spatialytiks was not merely instrumental; it was indispensable. Its innovative approach, combined with the global perspective of my PhD, directly led to this opportunity.
In turn, these two prior experiences enabled me to secure a role with Catapult Connected Places, the UK's world-class accelerator for Smart Cities. My work there then led to a position with Vodafone. Both roles were pivotal in helping me deliver on time my PhD amidst the pandemic and conduct my postdoc in the tough post-pandemic global tech market.
