Society for the Popularization of Science, Bangladesh (SPSB), founded in 2001, and registered under National Science and Technology Museum of Bangladesh—is the leading volunteer organization to popularize Science all over the country. SPSB arranges Children Science Congress, Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad (BDJSO), summer and winter Science camps, Science workshop, public lectures etc. to popularize Science, especially amongst school students—with a broader aim to make a scientific minded generation for the greater enlightenment and progress of Bangladesh.
বাংলাদেশ বিজ্ঞান জনপ্রিয়করণ সমিতি (এসপিএসবি) বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম প্রধান বিজ্ঞান সংগঠন। এটি জাতীয় বিজ্ঞান জাদুঘরে একটি বিজ্ঞান ক্লাব হিসেবে নিবন্ধিত। ২০০১ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠিত এ সংগঠনটির সঙ্গে বাংলাদেশের প্রধান প্রধান বিজ্ঞানী ও প্রযুক্তিবিদগণ নানাভাবে যুক্ত।
সংগঠনটি বিজ্ঞানকে সর্বস্তরে, বিশেষত স্কুল শিক্ষর্থীদের মাঝে, জনপ্রিয় করতে বহুদিন ধরে নেতৃত্ব দিয়ে আসছে। উল্লেখযোগ্য কয়েকটি আয়োজন—
-বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র শিশু-কিশোরদের জন্য আয়োজিত বৈজ্ঞানিক কনফারেন্স, “শিশু-কিশোর বিজ্ঞান কংগ্রেস” (www.cscongress.net), যেখানে শিশু-কিশোররা তাদের বৈজ্ঞানিক গবেষণা প্রজেক্ট, পোস্টার এবং পেপার হিসেবে উপস্থাপনের সুযোগ পায়।
-আন্তর্জাতিক জুনিয়র সায়েন্স অলিম্পিয়াড (আইজেএসও)-এর বাংলাদেশ দল বাছাইয়ের জন্য আয়োজিত বাংলাদেশ জুনিয়র সায়েন্স অলিম্পিয়াড (www.bdjso.org)। আইজেএসও-তে বাংলাদেশ দলের কার্যক্রম সমন্বয়ক এসপিএসবি।
-আন্তর্জাতিক বিভিন্ন আয়োজনের বাংলাদেশ সমন্বয়ক। যেমন জাতিসংঘ ঘোষিত “আন্তর্জাতিক আলো ও আলোক প্রযুক্তি বছর ২০১৫” এর বাংলাদেশ সমন্বয়ক ছিল এসপিএসবি। ২০১৮ সাল থেকে উদযাপিত হতে যাওয়া আন্তর্জাতিক আলোক দিবসের বাংলাদেশের সমন্বয়ক এসপিএসবি।
-বছর-জুড়ে স্কুল-কলেজের শিক্ষার্থীদের বিজ্ঞান গবেষণা শেখানোর জন্য আয়োজন করা হয় কুদরাত-ই-খুদা গ্রীষ্মকালীন বিজ্ঞান ক্যাম্প এবং মেঘনাদ সাহা বিজ্ঞান কর্মশালা।
-এসপিএসবির রয়েছে মাকসুদুল আলম বিজ্ঞানাগার। এই গবেষণাগারের আওতায় শিক্ষার্থীদের ব্যবহারিক বিজ্ঞানের প্রশিক্ষণ, পরীক্ষণের সুযোগ দেওয়া হয়।
এগুলো ছাড়াও এসপিএসবির নানা অনুল্লেখিত কার্যক্রম রয়েছে।
