Die Stargate Studios gehören zu den international führenden Anbietern für virtuelle Produktionen und visuelle Effekte (VFX) in der Film- und TV-Branche. Vor allem das von Stargate entwickelte „Virtual Backlot“-Verfahren hat eine neue Ära im VFX-Bereich eingeleitet: Die größte Virtual Backlot Stock-Footage Library der Welt ersetzt nahezu jeden Hintergrund eines Spielortes. Anders als bei klassischen Greenscreen-Verfahren erlaubt Virtual Backlot eine umfassende virtuelle Umgebung mit unbegrenzten Aufnahmewinkeln für die Kamera. Das Verfahren wird bereits in zahlreichen namhaften Film- und TV-Produktionen genutzt (u.a. Grey's Anatomy, The Walking Dead, Californication, 24, Heroes, Schmidt - Chaos auf Rezept, Ray Donovan).
