It takes a village to raise a child is niet voor niets een beroemde uitspraak geworden. Voor alle ouders is het fijn om het niet alleen te hoeven doen. Steunouders zijn volwassen vrijwilligers die één of twee dagdelen per week een gastvrij thuis bieden aan een kind. Zo geven ze gezinnen een steuntje in de rug.
Inmiddels is Steunouder actief in 42 gemeenten. We zijn aangesloten bij welzijns- en dienstverlenende organisaties en gemeenten die met de aanstelling van een steunoudercoördinator de uitvoering van het concept Steunouder omarmen. SteunouderNL levert materialen, helpt met de opstartfase en de implementatie, ontwikkelt door, initieert onderzoek en stut en steunt met het genereren van bekendheid. De bedoeling is dat de uitvoeringsorganisatie het concept toevoegt aan het aanbod in het sociaal domein.
