Stichting Obed is opgericht in 2014 om het gezinshuis "Casa Nadina" te ondersteunen. Casa Nadina is gevestigd in Ghimbav, Roemenië.
De naam van het huis sluit aan op de doelstelling van het gezinshuis. Casa Nadina betekent "huis van hoop". In het gezinshuis krijgen verlaten kinderen de mogelijkheid in een normale gezinssituatie op te groeien.
Het komt in Roemenië veel voor dat ouders hun kinderen achterlaten in het ziekenhuis, omdat ze zelf niet kunnen zorgen voor deze kinderen. Deze kinderen komen terecht in weeshuizen. In de weeshuizen wordt voorzien in het broodnodige, maar is geen aandacht voor de ontwikkeling van het kind. Hierdoor komen de kinderen veelal met achterstanden uit de weeshuizen.
Stichting Obed biedt een veilig thuis voor 6-8 kinderen die uit het weeshuis komen. Hierbij draagt de stichting ook een voorbeeldrol uit, waarbij meer mensen worden uitgedaagd om kinderen op te nemen in hun gezin.
Daarnaast is Stichting Obed ook betrokken bij lokale projecten, hierbij worden circa 125 kinderen in een achterstandspositie geholpen.
