Wij maken ons sterk voor kansengelijkheid. Dit bereiken we door maatschappelijk kwetsbare leerlingen intensief te helpen met basisvaardigheden zoals rekenen en wiskunde. The Bridge werkt met de evidence based Bridge High Dosage Tutoring methode (Bridge HDT). Dit is een intensieve onderwijsinterventie voor het vak rekenen en wiskunde.
We werken met professionele en maatschappelijk betrokken tutoren die door ons zijn opgeleid en doorlopend worden getraind. Ook de ouders en de school worden actief betrokken. Dat zorgt voor een hoge en consistente kwaliteit.
Kinderen die deelnemen aan Bridge HDT lopen niet alleen hun leerachterstand in maar groeien ook qua zelfdiscipline en zelfvertrouwen. Zo kunnen ze beter floreren. Nu en in de toekomst.
De resultaten van onze projecten worden voortdurend geëvalueerd door middel van wetenschappelijk onderzoek. De Universiteit van Amsterdam doet kwantitatief en kwalitatief onderzoek. De resultaten zijn zeer positief en te vinden op www.uva.nl/sepp.
Onze projecten worden gefinancierd door verschillende organisaties en fondsen, zoals Gelijke Kansen Alliantie, Ministerie van OCW, schoolbesturen, gemeenten en bedrijven.
Anne Kielman, directeur: ‘Het gaat ons niet zozeer om het vak rekenen als doel, het gaat om rekenen als middel. Het is een middel om een nog veel groter doel te bereiken: het zelfvertrouwen bevorderen, laten zien dat je het kan als je doorzet en leerlingen op die manier een ‘growth mindset’ meegeven. Iets waar ze de rest van hun schoolcarrière en leven van profiteren. En gelukkig is rekenen hier een fantastisch vak voor omdat je de groei snel en expliciet ziet.’
