STUDIO DOUWE bouwt huizen die aansluiten bij de mens en de natuurlijke omgeving. Een huis moet als een favoriet kledingstuk zijn: het staat mooi, het zit lekker en het gaat lang mee. Onze ontwerpen zijn fantasierijk en expressief; een afspiegeling van de mens die het gebruikt.
STUDIO DOUWE wil ‘wijs bouwen’. Dit houdt in dat er andere keuzes worden gemaakt tijdens het bouwproces en dat op die manier minder (indirecte) vervuiling wordt veroorzaakt.
De afname van de biodiversiteit baart mij zorgen. De bouwsector heeft een aandeel in deze afname. Het is belangrijk om te kijken waar bouwmaterialen vandaan komen en om uit te vinden hoe vervuilend ze zijn. Een gevolg is dat ik minder gebruik wil maken van conventionele bouwmethodes en -materialen.
Dat is geen gemakkelijke opgave. Het is behoorlijk complex zelfs, en de huidige bouwcultuur is hier nog niet aan toe. Het doel is om dit mechanisme geleidelijk te veranderen en opdrachtgevers hier voor te enthousiasmeren.
