Im Jahr 1987 haben sich Studenten und Absolventen der Fakultät für Mathematik und Wirtschaftswissenschaften der Universität Ulm zusammengefunden und den Verein Studium und Praxis e.V. ins Leben gerufen. Ihr Ziel war es, die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Studenten und Absolventen der Universität Ulm und den Unternehmen zu fördern.
Mittlerweile hat der Verein eine stolze Größe angenommen. Wir haben derzeit über 850 Mitglieder aus den Bereichen Wirtschaftsmathematik, Mathematik, mathematische Biometrie, Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Informatik und Physik. Mehr als die Hälfte davon sind Absolventen, der Rest Studenten und Doktoranden.
Sechs ehrenamtliche Vorstandsmitglieder, die Anfang eines jeden Jahres auf der Jahreshauptversammlung von den anwesenden Mitgliedern gewählt werden, organisieren den gemeinnützigen Verein.
Neben dem jährlich stattfindenden WiMa-Kongress bieten wir während des Semesters Seminare, Workshops, Vorträge und Exkursionen an. Dazu gehören beispielsweise Softskill-Seminare, Fachvorträge und berufsqualifizierende Trainings. Unsere studentischen Mitglieder wollen wir damit bei der Gestaltung eines praxisnahen Studiums unterstützen und ihnen die Möglichkeit geben, zusätzliche Qualifikationen neben dem Studium zu erwerben.
