Modern Baker develops breakthrough ‘clean label’ ingredient technologies to improve the nutritional profile of carbohydrate-based ultra-processed foods, for the common good.

2022 saw the launch of the democratising SUPERLOAF, in collaboration with Amazon Fresh in the UK. SUPERLOAF is the healthiest loaf ever made, slowing glucose absorption, reducing calorie load and optimising gut microbiome activity – all of which contribute to supporting the human body’s immune system.
Based in Oxford, UK, Modern Baker was founded in 2017 by Melissa Sharp and Leo Campbell, following Melissa’s food-epiphany on a chemo-ward. Five years of lab research have been backed by five funding awards from the UK’s innovation agency, alongside private investment.
