There is something wrong with the modern travel industry. Despite being a billion-dollar industry, efforts to make it more sustainable are very limited. Traveling has a big impact on our world, both the natural world and the human world. Tourists don’t often realize the impact that they can make and are not aware of the power they have in their hands by making more sustainable choices. Many hotels and places to stay use excessive washing, plastic toiletries, and a lot of electricity. And most of their profits end up in the hands of anybody but the local people. They take advantage of the location they are in, but don’t give back to the community to make up for their impact.
We are all shifting to a more sustainable and communal way of living, and you can help! Sustaying has been brought to life by a Dutch traveler who got more and more frustrated with the lack of sustainable options when booking places to stay. She decided to follow her dream to make a positive impact on the world and created Sustaying, a platform to make it easier for travellers to book sustainable stays and travel more responsible.
The idea is to review a stay based on four different categories; Community, Environment, Planet and Awareness.
