Créé en 2003 par neuf membres fondateurs, suite au rapprochement du CID, du GETAP et du SNI-Amiante, le SYRTA, Syndicat Professionnel régi par le Livre Ier du Code de travail, dont les Statuts et le Règlement Intérieur ont été signés le 18 juin 2003, comptabilise aujourd'hui douze années d’existence et 116 membres, dont 62 membres qualifiés "Retrait et encapsulage de l'amiante".
Le SYRTA analyse la réglementation en vigueur et réfléchit aux méthodes de travail et aux règles techniques. Il a établi une charte d’engagement déontologique. Il veille à la recherche permanente d’améliorations dans la filière.
Il a coordonné administrativement la campagne de mesures d’empoussièrement en META de la Direction Générale du Travail et est en cela un interlocuteur privilégié des pouvoirs publics.
Le SYRTA n’hésite pas à travailler en réseau, lorsque cela se révèle pertinent.
Il organise des campagnes de communication et assure la promotion de la filière, en favorisant la circulation de l’information et en contribuant à la mise en œuvre d’actions de formation.
