Micro-credentials are a new, exciting offering from Trinity College Dublin. They are short, accredited modules of learning that facilitate flexible and innovative professional development.
This pilot programme was created out of a desire to support the professionals and lifelong learners wishing to keep pace with the changing needs of industry and society. We are delighted that the Higher Education Authority has recognised this commitment through funding the micro-credential pilot programme under the Human Capital Initiative. Innovation and agility are the core principles of the HCI venture and provide the foundations for the micro-credentials programme in Trinity.
There are four schools presently participating in the programme: Trinity Business School, the School of Engineering, the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the School of Social Work and Social Policy. Each of these schools has put together micro-credential modules with today’s professional in mind. Modules that explore the evolving trends in each field, that partner with enterprise to ensure responsive skills development and ultimately deliver learning outcomes with real-world relevance. The vision for Trinity micro-credentials in the future is that micro-credentials will be portable and stackable towards a Trinity award.
