A project of passion and the culmination of almost 5 decades of Tea experience, far removed from the hackneyed industrial style tea factory, this artisanal cottage industry unit founded on creativity, simply could not be named anything other than – a TEA STUDIO.
Having literally upped the ante for the entire industry, located in the heart of Tea country in the Nilgiris, the Studio is a paradigm shift in the art of Tea making.
The above being buttressed by the fact that Muskan has been granted a 20-year international patent for the Nilgiri Bamboo, a Green Tea which she took 5 years to develop. This incidentally is the ONLY patent ever granted for ANY tea product.
The Studio supports the local tribal community with our leaf requirements being met from tiny family holdings (¼ - ½ acre plots) in the vicinity of the Studio belonging to marginal tribal farmers. Being paid more than 10X the normal price of leaf in the Nilgiris for their efforts, the farmers maintain the finest possible level of plucking to deliver leaf which conforms to stringent quality specifications.
Being simply unable to afford the cost these tribal farmers have, for decades altogether, never used any chemicals or pesticides on their lands. Resultantly, while not certified as such due to practical constraints, Teas produced in the Studio are NATURALLY Organic and EU/US compliant.
Committed to women empowerment, our tiny workforce of 8, headed by Muskan, are all educated women from the neighboring village.
Staunchly adhering to sustainable green practices, after having pioneered the use of LPG in Tea manufacture, we have gone the extra mile with the installation of a solar power plant which takes care of our electricity requirements. In a nutshell, a 100% non-polluting and environmentally friendly unit.
Skillfully crafted with caring and passion, each one of our 17, is a "stand alone" limited edition Tea. Each having its own individualistic leaf appearance and cup character.
