TEDxRushU will provide a platform for the brightest minds to converge and inspire. We are committed to creating an event where participants are challenged to communicate their passions in an exciting and engaging dialogue. Speakers will present their forward-thinking ideas and all participants will leave the conference inspired and empowered to create positive change. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxRushU, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxRushU event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are collectively shaping our future. Attendees have called it “the ultimate brain spa” and a “journey into the future.” Ted events draw a wide array of speakers along with diverse audiences. Notable TED speakers include Bill Clinton, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck, and Bono. TedxRushU 2018 Date: October 25th, 2018 Theme: Charting the Unknown No matter how much individuals try to prepare for the future, uncertainty is an inevitable challenge. In life we have personal uncertainties, social uncertainties, and medical uncertainties. The TEDx RushU 2018 talk will allow individuals to share their experiences in charting the unknown and how they have dealt with all types of uncertainty in life. The absence of certainty and the chance to listen to how others have charted their unknown is why we wish to host the TEDxRushU talk around the topic of uncertainty. There are several instances where individuals are faced with doubt, and our talk will garner thoughts and ideas of how to deal with, and overcome uncertainty through discussion. Rush University is a leading teaching hospital and aspects of uncertainty are seen everyday in the hallways of our institution. Though, our Rush community is accustomed to dealing with medical uncertainty, the unknown can take many forms. Whether it be a social, personal, or medical uncertainty the goal of our talk is to share the experiences of our speakers on how they charted the unknown.
