The D3 Group (D3G) is a scientifically-led, translational network spanning the Developmental Dental Defect (DDD = D3) and chalky teeth sector globally. D3G's diverse membership across 56 countries comprises career scientists, educators, dental practitioners, medicos, public health professionals, industry, government and affected public. Together we focus on "converting D3 science into social good", and our translational approach combines cutting-edge research, education and advocacy. Allied goals are "stronger science, better practice and social good". D3G's world-first achievements include a 100-year research breakthrough about what makes enamel chalky, a scientifically-driven online education resource (thed3group.org; >16 million hits), multiple international symposia on D3-Chalky Teeth, the public-facing 'Chalky Teeth Campaign' (chalkyteeth.org), and a children's storybook. Currently an informal charity based in Australia at the University of Melbourne, D3G is shaping to become a standalone nonprofit organisation (social enterprise).
