With over 400 control rooms of experience, no one has the experience of The Design Matters Group consulting and design team. You need more than a space planner to design your space, you need an expert!
The philosophy is simple. We believe that most control rooms function fairly well under normal circumstances. However, in a crisis mode your operators must be highly aware in their observations, accurate in their responses and your control room must operate at the most efficient level possible. You cannot afford to have indecision, poor decisions, miscommunication or missed information when accuracy counts the most. To achieve the highest level of accuracy and efficiency we combine the basic principles of the ISO 11064 control room design standard, with our own ‘100 Critical Element’ Design Methodology, which includes ergonomics, operator interactions, acoustics, lighting, fatigue mitigation, traffic patterns, distractions etc. all of which play a part in ensuring that a control room function as it should, when it should.
We understand that every control room operates differently and should be designed with that in mind. We take into account the current operation of your control room, where it came from and where you want it to be in the future. We spend days observing your current operation, individually interview each and every operator, supervisor and anyone else that impacts the control room or depends on the control room for information. We also recommend the 'tools' and solutions that best support your unique control room.
By including those individuals that operate in the room, those that support the operation of the room and those that rely on the room for information in our design process, we create ownership in the project. We combine on-site information with our own vast experience to create the best design possible for your control room.
