Bij het expertisecentrum op de Haagse Hogeschool afdeling Delft loopt al een aantal jaar het project Shell Eco-Marathon. Met dit project wordt gestreden in een door Shell georganiseerde wedstrijd waarin het de bedoeling is met een voertuig zo ver mogelijk te rijden op een equivalent van één liter benzine. In het verleden zijn hier mee al verschillende successen behaald. In de jaren 2007, 2008, 2010 en 2011 heeft het team de eerste plaats behaald in de Urban Concept klasse, in 2009 is er een tweede plaats behaald. In de Urban Concept klasse draait het er om dat er een zo groot mogelijke afstand wordt verreden met een voertuig dat lijkt op een auto die geschikt is voor gebruikt op de weg. Zo moet de rijder rechtop zitten en moet het voertuig voorzien zijn van koplampen.
