Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to personalise treatment of colorectal cancer and reduce the incidence and mortality rates. This is the aim of the EU-funded OperA project. We are conducting a pan-European, population-based, randomised trial to establish the value of AI-assisted colonoscopy in colorectal cancer prevention. Overall, the project's goal is to drastically improve colorectal cancer care.
The OperA project will also produce a risk-prediction tool for personalised treatment and cost-effective models of AI-assisted colonoscopy in colorectal cancer screening. OperA will also address the ethical and legal barriers to AI development and implementation.
