The Orb runs a technology enabled supply chain agriculture platform connecting Indian vegetable and fruit farmers directly with retailers.
Most Indian retailers waste 2-3 hours every second till third day procuring their inventory at the local wholesale market in a very time and cost intensive manner.
Indian farmers only receive a tiny fraction of that retail price as there are many middleman in between taking disproportionate commissions and pressuring down prices.
This is unfortunately one of the main causes of farmer suicides in India.
In Maharashtra there has been an average of seven farmer suicides each day since 1995.
The Orb tries to solve both problems by taking over the entire supply chain as it sources produce directly from farmers and delivers it to retailers’ doorsteps, thereby cutting out all middlemen, using an integrated, technology-driven supply chain and scale to handle items faster at a lower cost.
