TheBridge2Hope steunt overlevenden van mensenhandel en stelt hen in staat, in vrijheid, een economisch onafhankelijk, zelfstandig en menswaardig bestaan op te bouwen. Juist zij die seksueel uitgebuit worden in een vreemd land hebben zonder TheBridge2Hope geen stem.
Initiatiefnemer van stichting TheBridge2Hope is Sheetal Shah (PhD). Zij deed onderzoek naar de situatie van overlevenden van seksueel geweld en uitbuiting. Shah interviewde 40 overlevenden en bracht in kaart wat zij nodig hadden om weer een menswaardig bestaan op te bouwen. Ze zag dat psychosociale zorg en integrale ondersteuning voor deze groep nog niet bestond, en startte als antwoord hierop in 2015 TheBridge2Hope.
TheBridge2Hope bestaat uit drie pijlers:
Academy voor directe ondersteuning aan de overlevenden.
Research voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar mensenhandel en seksuele uitbuiting.
Advocacy voor bewustwording van het probleem en beleidsbeïnvloeding.
Door de drie pijlers te combineren maakt TheBridge2Hope zich sterk voor een vrij, onafhankelijk en veilig bestaan voor de overlevenden.
