Started in 2019, the Pay it Forward Project was conceptualised as a response to increased information asymmetry in admissions for top-tier higher education. Our focus is to build tailored mentorship programmes around key pain points in the application process, from shortlisting universities to college essays and resume writing. Our entire process is facilitated through the website: www.projectpif.carrd.co. The programming is designed around an iterative, client-specific approach, meant to cater to needs contextually.
We enable a community of mentors from top graduate programmes and schools to be able to pay forward their own time and learnings from the admissions process - in a way that increases accountability and benefits both parties. Based on a pro-bono mentorship model, we create a network of volunteer mentors as resources for mentees, but we also look to divert consulting fees towards non-profit initiatives in education, health, and financial inclusion.
The project is led by a team of excited, driven individuals spread out across the world and work together entirely remotely - not just during the pandemic, but as a cornerstone of our culture.
