The Wall and Us was founded after it's founder, Aitijya Sarkar, struggled to find the hope to live, suffering from 7 diagnosed mental illnesses.
It was started to address the mental health epidemic of the world and create a safe haven for people like him, the broken of the world.
Today, TWAU chases two major objectives --
ONE -- To create a platform where anyone can come and share what they're going through with a trained listener, in real time, anonymously, for free via a chat platform.
TWO -- Address the millennial mental health epidemic by pioneering a concept titled Safe Space Initiative which is based on the principles of co-counselling therapy.
Safe Space Intiative --
-- Offline meetups, a chance to share what someone is really going through with a group of strangers.
-- Train members of the community to run Safe Spaces on their own as bi-weekly or monthly events.
Today, TWAU has more than 70+ volunteers across the globe and has hosted thousands of conversations ranging from rape, abuse, trauma, LGBTQI, various facets of the mental health and mental illness world.
TWAU today, has committed to change a million lives and become the face of the mental health movement across the world.
The organization runs on one singular belief, "Only the broken can heal."
Only the broken can heal is a pioneering concept, possibly the only one of its kind across the world in the mental health movement, which focuses on the broken to tackle the epidemic rather than those who don't subscribe to the movement.
Because of this belief TWAU has been able to help 1000's of people with no literal sustainable investment.
