PREPARING PEOPLE FOR LIFE'S CHALLENGES & ADVENTURES TOT's programs provide young people and adults the tools and knowledge to stretch far beyond their internally perceived abilities. In balancing responsibility, risks and rewards, and in learning to act boldly, deliberately, and with kindness, while accepting who they are, students experience profound growth and lasting change. These skills and tools are infinitely expandable and interchangeable and support our students successes at home, school, work and communities. They strengthen relationships and communication and create a bond between company and student for a lasting relationship they can carry with them for time to come. Instructors with training in education, group facilitation and outdoor skills. Instructors’ role is to support, teach and encourage students to seek success beyond their perceived limits. Students’ apply their existing strengths with newly discovered abilities to help themselves and the group achieve increasing autonomy and success. PLACE Outdoor environment simplifies as it inspires. Novel physical settings require new ways of thinking and acting. Physical remoteness emphasizes interdependence and self-reliance. Unplugging from connected lifestyles promotes focus and perspective. PROCESS Students work together to overcome obstacles to discover that true success is earned through action, reflection and perseverance. Students learn to trust each other’s strengths and support each other’s needs. Exploration and reflection create space for mindful learning from experience.
