Tiding had tot doel het voorbestaan van onafhankelijke journalistiek te waarborgen door de aangesloten (freelance) journalisten, persfotografen en andere mediaprofessionals de mogelijkheden te geven om hun bevindingen wereldkundig te maken in een gezamenlijk platform. Waarbij gelijktijdig de verdienmogelijkheden voor freelancers worden uitgebreid. Dat doet Tiding door een meer gebalanceerde verdeling van de inkomsten te bewerkstelligen ten gunste van de bij haar aangesloten media professionals. Daarnaast biedt het lezers meer privacy, grip op hun nieuwsvoorziening (geen onverklaarbaar algoritme) en grip op de kosten.
Tiding is gratis maar uit te breiden met micro-abonnementen om direct je support te geven aan de freelance media professional. We hebben een platform gerealiseerd en live gezet in 2022. Echter, wij hebben per maart 2025 onze activiteiten vrijwel beëindigd, daar er geen enkele support kwam van de NVJ, of voldoende individuele freelance journalisten om daadwerkelijk het platform te voorzien van artikelen. Wat uiteraard nodig was om activiteiten richting het publiek te ontplooien. Mocht een groep journalisten zich (alsnog) geroepen voelen, neem dan contact met ons op.
