VaSHHRA is a valuable network of healthcare human resource professionals—a group of individual colleagues with centuries worth of combined healthcare human resource experience. Our mission is to lead, develop and support its members as they strive to attain their institutions’ goals through the delivery of outstanding human resource management. History: In 1969 a group of hospital personnel directors met in Richmond to discuss the need for a state-wide personnel association. Out of that meeting (VAHPA) the Virginia Association for Hospital Personnel Administration was organized. Today our members represent over 85% of the hospitals, along with a number of long-term care and other health organizations in the state of Virginia. We are a Region 3 chapter of the national organization – The American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA).
