Venik (Verenigde Nederlandse Insectenkwekers) is de brancheorganisatie die kwekers bijeen brengt om in samenwerking insecten voor consumptie te vermarkten, voor zowel feed als food. Het eten van insecten noemen we met een chique woord: entomofagie.
De vereniging maakt zich sterk om insecten als alternatieve eiwitbron op de markt te brengen als gezamenlijk Nederlands kwaliteitsproduct. Dit product is voedselveilig en wordt gekweekt overeenkomstig de richtlijnen van de General Food Law.
Venik geeft voorlichting en is gesprekspartner voor kennisinstellingen, overheid en media. Venik stimuleert onderzoek en zoekt hierin samenwerking met kennisinstellingen, bevordert kennisuitwisseling, ontwikkelt in coöperatie nieuwe producten en bouwt aan een onderlinge strategie om zowel de Nederlandse als internationale markt te veroveren. Venik behartigd geen commerciële belangen voor individuele bedrijven.
Met andere woorden: wij bouwen aan een sterke Nederlandse insectenbranche!
