Văn phòng Chứng chỉ Quản lý rừng bền vững (VFCO) là Tổ chức thực hiện Hệ thống chứng chỉ rừng Quốc gia (VFCS) theo Quyết định số 1288/QĐ-TTg của Thủ tướng Chính phủ. Hệ thống chứng chỉ rừng quốc gia là thương hiệu được Tổ chức chứng nhận quốc tế PEFC công nhận vào tháng 8 năm 2019. Thực hiện quản lý rừng bền vững và chứng chỉ rừng là mục tiêu quan trọng của ngành Lâm nghiệp trong giai đoạn 2021-2030 và tầm nhìn đến năm 2050, đóng góp trực tiếp vào mục tiêu của Việt Nam về phát triển bền vững, các nỗ lực giảm nhẹ và thích ứng với biến đổi khí hậu, đặc biệt là mục tiêu đạt phát thải thuần bằng 0 vào năm 2050. Hệ thống chứng chỉ rừng Quốc gia hướng đến nâng cao giá trị gia tăng của rừng thông qua áp dụng giống cây trồng ưu việt và các kỹ thuật quản lý rừng phù hợp, cải thiện và nâng cao dịch vệ hệ sinh thái và bảo vệ đa dạng sinh học; đảm bảo nguồn nguyên liệu gỗ hợp pháp đáp ứng các yêu cầu chứng nhận của thị trường.
Tầm nhìn của VFCO là thúc đẩy quản lý rừng bền vững và chứng chỉ rừng ở Việt Nam, đảm bảo các lợi ích kinh tế, môi trường và xã hội cho phát triển bền vững. Chứng nhận theo VFCS/PEFC đảm bảo: (i) Tính hợp pháp; (ii) Tính bền vững; và (iii) Toàn vẹn môi trường.
