Der Verband der Materialprüfungsanstalten e. V. (VMPA) wurde 1948 als Berufsverband gegründet und gilt seitdem in vielen entscheidenden Gremien als Vorreiter auf den Gebieten der Materialprüfung – sowohl bei der Entwicklung und Normung neuer zeitgemäßer Prüfverfahren als auch in der entsprechenden anspruchsvollen technischen Ausstattung.
Anspruch
Die Mitglieder des VMPA sind staatliche und private Stellen, für die vor allem zwei Qualitätskriterien gelten: außerordentliche Fachkompetenz durch ständige Rückkopplung mit Forschung und Gesetzgebung und Neutralität im Sinne von Unabhängigkeit und Unparteilichkeit, die im Zeitalter der Globalisierung zunehmend an Aktualität gewinnt. Die Mitglieder des VMPA müssen echte Third-Party-Institutionen sein, also unabhängig von Herstellern (First Party) und Vertriebsorganisationen (Second Party) agieren. Der VMPA ist der einzige Verband, auf den dies in Deutschland zutrifft.
