De VVEM behartigt en verdedigt de belangen van haar leden. Zij wil de vakkennis vastleggen en verhogen en ondersteunt en stimuleert daarin de aangesloten leden. De VVEM verzorgt voor leden op professionele wijze informatieoverdracht. Kwaliteit, veiligheid en professionaliteit worden als kenmerken uitgedragen.Er worden samenwerkingsverbanden met andere brancheverenigingen aangegaan. Als serieuze gesprekspartner voor de overheid wordt gewerkt aan regelgeving binnen de evenementenbranche. Via vakgroepen worden bepaalde speerpunten zoals ARBO en Publieksveiligheid uitgewerkt om zo tot branchebrede oplossingen te komen.
