My name is Ross Campbell and I am a Pre Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I offer counselling and psychotherapy face to face, online or outdoors walk and talk therapy. I use an integrative eclectic approach, which is essentially elements of different therapy models, including Person Centred Therapy, Choice Theory/Reality Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Internal Family Systems, and Gestalt Therapy, with the aim of building a greater awareness of yourself as a whole rather than just your thoughts. I focus on you and what you can change. I believe that understanding, and being aware of, your current thoughts and feelings then allows you the space to explore and imagine new ways of thinking and behaving that are more in line with your ideal self, the person you want to be if there was no fear of reactions or judgement from others. I would also use psychoeducation to continue the work outside the therapy room including a basic understanding of neuroscience and being aware of what is going on for you during those fight, flight and freeze moments and understanding it through a protective lens rather than an internal enemy. Yontef (2007) refers to this as the paradoxical theory of change which suggests that when people allow themselves to be fully aware with who they currently are, including their conflicts and shame, change and growth can then emerge as they come to trust in the therapist’s genuine respect for their life choices on a moment-by-moment basis.
