QMRE has spent several years researching ways to find an effective answer to the environmentally damaging problem of plastic waste pollution.
Our search led us to a well-known but little used technology – pyrolysis – which has been around for hundreds of years but has been incorporated into a modern and unique system – the Biofabrik WASTX P-Series plastic Waste-2-Oil plant and equipment.
Biofabrik is a German manufacturer specialising in developing technologies for sustainable management of waste problems. QMRE is the appointed sole distributor of the WASTX P-Series plant and equipment to the UK and Ireland on a five year rolling contract.
In collaboration with Biofabrik we have re-designed the WASTX series in order to meet all the UK’s regulatory requirements. We have installed the UK’s first WASTX P demonstration and development plant at our Kent site and have placed the first order for a P5000 machine which will recycle up to 5 tonnes of plastic waste per day into 5000 litres of oil. A programme of developing a national network of WASTX P plants is already underway.
The QMRE/Biofabrik solution to plastic waste pollution will provide all interested parties - national and local government, plastic manufacturers, plastic users such as FMCG companies and supermarkets, the recycling industry and of course the consumer – with an efficient and cost-effective solution.
We are demonstrating an old technology with a completely fresh approach, the process is 1000 years old, the approach is very modern. It is currently the only one of its type, unique! However, we have many more planned and a number of larger models under construction at Biofabrik Germany. The process is cleaner than anything similar that proceeded it, both fast and efficient and self-powered. This is the best current solution for converting waste plastic into a useful commodity, it is modular and will go to where the problem is – it is a plug and play solution.’
