So. Folks. Here’s some lovely Calendula flowers to brighten your day. I’m writing today to make a bit of a statement… After ‘testing the temperature’ of the creative industry over the last couple of months, it’s just a little too quiet out there. Whilst it’s a firm held belief of mine that this may well be to do with AI & the march of the fourth Industrial Revolution, it may well be economic impacts or both. I grew up amongst art & artists. Paints. Pens. Clay. As a (slightly pretentious kid), I worshipped Turner, Rothko, Kandinsky, Klee, Rousseau to name a few. I was a kid who wanted to play ‘Mr & Mrs Monet’, not ‘Mum’s & Dads’. After studying Art & working as a Teacher, I later moved into Creative Recruiting because I bloody loved these things: the creative process & creatives and I loved nurturing careers & relationships. I strived to support, to be honest & most of all just really cared about you lot. Finding a biz partner in the legendary Sue Frost was also a dream. Here’s the thing. I still do care. Lots. I have absolutely LOVED catching up after so many years apart. I genuinely missed you. It’s just too damn quiet. And as Sir J Hegarty recently said ‘adapt or die’, well yes. I am. I’ll be continuing to contribute to my local community as their Clerk & will be working part time as a Grower/Gardener for West Lexham Kitchen Garden & retreat. Turning a ten year passion for growing things into a job seems the right way to ‘adapt’ right now. I hope you find your right way. Please don’t forget to follow your heart.
