Werfpop is sinds 1982 het grootste maar vooral het leukste muziekfestival in de Leidse regio. Ooit ontstaan in het knusse Van der Werfpark, midden in de stad, en nu alweer meer dan 10 jaar op de Grote Weide in monumentaal stadspark de Leidse Hout. Die verhuizing gaf het festival de mogelijkheid te groeien tot een groot jaarlijks (pop)muziekfestival met gemiddeld 22.000 bezoekers. Een ding is al die jaren hetzelfde gebleven. Werfpop wordt al meer dan 30 jaar georganiseerd door inmiddels 300 vrijwilligers, met hart voor Leiden en cultuur.
Werfpop anno 2018 is een popfestival waar op meerdere podia vele muzikale acts van lokaal tot internationaal niveau optreden voor een groot en breed publiek. In de afgelopen jaren hebben bands als Kensington, De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, The Opposites, Postmen, Suicidal Tendencies, Soulfly, Sepultura opgetreden op het podium van Werfpop.
Naast het muzikale aanbod, biedt Werfpop ook straattheater, Werfpopcolleges, kinderactiviteiten en een uitgebreide festivalmarkt. Werfpop wil haar bezoekers een onvergetelijke dag bezorgen, dit wordt
gekenmerkt door de relaxte sfeer gedurende het festival.
