Founded by Craig Barnard, World Idea Day is inspired by his vision to facilitate innovation and change. Knowing the start-up space has its own unique challenges, and seeing so many people with exciting ideas and businesses continue to struggle to launch—even with secured investment—Barnard wanted to create a global initiative for passionate, creative people to find success with their ideas in the marketplace. This is why World Idea Day was designed as a judgement-free zone. A place where like-minded innovators can meet online, and a place where ideas can flourish. In addition to providing a creative, diverse, energetic space for innovators to connect and collaborate, World Idea Day offers coaching, mentorship, investment, networking and promotional support—essentially, it’s an enlivening and imaginative arena where ideas have the best chance to evolve and grow. Driven by a desire to circumvent the existing, restrictive ‘innovation ecosystem’ parameters and gatekeepers, Barnard created the World Idea Day movement in 2018, and which is celebrated on the 16th of November each year. His enthusiasm and vision for innovation is uniquely paired with a background in economics, commerce, banking and finance. Barnard is also a director of Institution X, a privately-owned investment business. Through World Idea Day, curiosity is rewarded when entrepreneurs are able to access the resources and skillsets of our unique community to help them explore their ideas, bring them to life, and to the marketplace.
