CCHS, also known as “Ondine's Curse,” is a rare and harsh neurological syndrome that affects 22 people in Israel and some 1,200 around the world. The syndrome primarily causes those affected to stop breathing while they sleep. Some of those who carry CCHS also have difficulty breathing while they are awake and must rely on a respirator- mechanical ventilation 24 hours a day. Yad LaNeshima was created with the goal of advancing research in Israel and around the world into the syndrome and with that to try to allow our children to live securely, without relying on a respirator and without the threat to their lives hovering over them every day. We have already started 5 research projects at Tel-Aviv University and Ben-Gurion University and launched a care center at Sheba Healthcare at Tel Hashomer that focuses on the syndrome and determines the care standards and coordinates the treatment for the carriers and their families from around Israel. The Center has been recognized by the Israeli MOH To donate - https://cchsisrael.org/donate/ תסמונת CCHS ובשמה הנוסף "קללת אונדין" היא תסמונת נדירה וקשה ביותר עם כ-1200 חולים בעולם כולו אשר מתבטאת בעיקר בכך שהחולים בה מפסיקים לנשום בשנתם. חלק מחולי CCHS מתקשים לנשום גם בזמן ערות ותלויים בהנשמה מלאכותית 24 שעות ביממה. מרבית החולים מונשמים באופן פולשני ונאלצים לעבור בהיותם תינוקות בני מספר שבועות בלבד ניתוח פיום קנה בשם "טרכאוסטומיה". מדובר בתסמונת מסוכנת ביותר, שכן ללא חיבור למכונת הנשמה מלאכותית, אין לחולים בה סיכוי לשרוד… עמותת יד לנשימה שמה לה למטרה לאגד את כל החולים בתסמונת קשה זו בישראל , ובמקביל לעודד ולקדם את תחום המחקר בנושא שיוביל למציאת טיפולים שונים: תרופתיים וטכנולוגיים. כמו כן העמותה פועלת למען העלאת המודעות לתסמונת בקרב חוקרים, רופאים ואזרחים בארץ ובעולם ועל ידי כך שואפת לקדם את המחקר הרפואי. העמותה יזמה מחקרים עם אוניברסיטת בן גוריון אוניברסיטת תל-אביב, וכן הקמת מרכז טיפולי למחלה בבית חולים “שבא” שהוכר על ידי משרד הבריאות
