YALA is an organisation with an aim to unite the Lebanese community at the University of Sydney, as well as those with a particular interest in Lebanese culture. By extension, our organisation aims to showcase Lebanese culture to the general student body and beyond. YALA is committed to a celebration of diversity at the university, as well as increasing public awareness about Lebanon.
Events are hosted throughout the year, and seek to:
- Facilitate the integration of incoming Lebanese students into the university’s community
- Empower students throughout their time at the university by strengthening their education and broadening their knowledge
- Encourage members to become proactive and participate in other activities held at the University
- Provide a meeting place for individuals interested in experiencing the Lebanese way of life through broadcasts about Lebanese culture, heritage and traditions
- Strengthen bonds between members by organising an array of different social, cultural and academic activities
