Yerevan Urban Development PIU (CNCO) is the special project management agency of the Yerevan Municipality for its large-scale and impactful infrastructure and urban development projects since its establishment in 2009.
The PIU project portfolio includes roads, highways, bridges, public transport infrastructure and mobility solutions. It also encompasses energy efficiency, seismic safety and residential renovation projects, as well as social public infrastructure, such as kindergartens, healthcare facilities, sports complexes, solid waste infrastructure, rehabilitation of public spaces and parks.
The development and implementation of land acquisition and resettlement plans is one of the company’s major professional services available to public partners and the private sector to support the implementation of urban development projects.
Currently the PIU is expanding its scope of operations to include initiatives aimed at institutional and digital transformation of Yerevan Municipality and the establishment of accountable, transparent and participatory local governance practices.
One of the critical adjunct missions of the PIU is to provide professional management and advisory services to the Yerevan Municipality for the preparation, appraisal and negotiation of transformative investment projects. Here the agency serves as the Mayor’s envoy for the dialogue with the Government, state agencies, international financial institutions, development partners and the private sector.
