Launched in 2012 the label was a response to Yuge’s ongoing, but previously blanketed desire to create. Having focused on a career as a lawyer, fashion was not an anticipated diversion to outsiders, but for Yuge it was the realisation of a long time passion, and the sum of her creative history at the sewing table and with her personal dress. Born in Beijing, raised in Wellington and now based in Melbourne, Yuge finds inspiration in design concepts from past and present. Regularly drawing from her knowledge of Chinese, New Zealand and Australian contemporary art, Yuge combines these influences with her love of music and fascination in architecture, each inspiration incorporated in the details of her garments.
