In het voorjaar van 1930 hebben drie mannen het initiatief genomen een voetbalclub op te richten. Reyer Koster kocht een bal en Gerrit Pos en Ber Vissers trommelde een aantal personen op om tussen de fabrieken van Bruynzeel en Norit een balletje te gaan trappen. De opkomst was al direct aanzienlijk ondanks het dubbeltje dat iedere deelnemer moest betalen om Reyer uit de gemaakte kosten te helpen. Dat dubbeltje was echter geen garantie voor een probleemloze sportmiddag. Kleedgelegenheid was er niet; om nog een beetje tegen weer en wind beschermd te zijn verkleedde de spelers zich tegen de muur van een nabij geleden fabrieksgebouw. Het “voetbalveld” werd in de lengte doorsneden door een greppel die overging in een circa 5 meter brede kreek. Een andere handicap was, dat de bal met enige regelmaat in de nabij gelegen balkenhaven belandde. Bij aflandige wind zat er dan niets anders op, dan dat één van de spelers zich te water begaf. In het najaar werd het omkleden in de buitenlucht en zwemmen om de bal te redden ondoenlijk. Er werd afgesproken om in het voorjaar te proberen een echte club op te richtten.
