ZEA is a membership based organisation of professional evaluators devoted to conducting mainly program evaluation. ZEA contributes to the capacity development of members and stakeholders in research and evaluation to ensure the attainment of quality and credible evaluation results. Additionally, ZEA seeks to build partnerships with policy makers, network with organizations and individuals to promote a culture of evaluation. The Association is affiliated to AfrEA and IOCE.
The purpose of ZEA is grounded on the premise that evaluation as a field is claiming its place but is also evolving. It carries much potential for sustainable development but the realization of this potential also relies on the development of the field and capacity building of evaluation practitioners on new methods and lessons. The ability of ZEA to capitalize on the potential depends on its capacities to demonstrate basic organizational capabilities, invest in profile and relationship building and expand its product and service offering.
The Zimbabwe Evaluation Association (ZEA) was established in 2004, however due to brain drain and migration of members to neighbouring countries, the Association lost steam. ZEA was revived in October 2013. In 2013 with support from UNICEF, the Association developed its Constitution and registered as a Trust.
OUR MANDATE IS; “To strengthen the demand and use of evaluation to inform evidence-based policy-making; and strengthen the capacities of qualified evaluators, including young and emerging evaluators to produce valid, credible and useful evaluations based on national and international evaluation standards”.
