南昌硬质合金有限责任公司始建于1966年1月，原名603厂，1972年更名为南昌硬质合金厂。2003年5 月改制成立南昌硬质合金有限责任公司。现由中国五矿集团公司所属五矿有色金属股份有限公司投资控股（84.97%），日本株式会社泰珂洛（11.19%）、南昌市雍盛资产经营管理有限公司（3.84%）参股的国有控股中外合资企业。
公司是国内最大的钨冶炼与粉末制品、硬质合金及孔加工工具生产、经营、出口基地之一。主要生产钨粉末制品、硬质合金管棒材料、硬质合金切削工具等三大系列产品，广泛应用于冶金、机械、汽车、航空航天、地质矿山、石化、电子、轻纺以及国防军工等涉及国民经济发展所有的行业。
公司现有6000吨氧化钨，3000吨钨粉、碳化钨粉，700吨硬质合金棒材，1500万支硬质合金孔加工切削工具年生产能力。现有员工六百余人，注册资本2.794亿元。1993年获得国家批准的自营进出口权，拥有商务部批准的钨制品出口配额，产品远销美国、欧洲、日本、东南亚等国家和地区，主导产品钨粉、碳化钨、硬质合金棒材及孔加工工具在国内外具有较高的影响力。
公司是江西省100家重点企业之一，南昌市工业企业创汇10强企业之一，是江西省优秀高新技术企业。公司资产总额、生产规模、销售收入及综合经济效益评价均列全国硬质合金行业前五位。拥有“滕王阁”、“金塔”、“金塔山”等国家、省级著名商标。超细钨粉、超细晶粒碳化钨粉、超细晶粒硬质合金、超细晶硬质合金微型钻四个产品被认定为高新技术产品；氧化钨、钨粉、碳化钨粉、硬质合金棒材和孔加工刀具等产品为国家、省级优秀重点新产品。设有专业研究室，承担了国家火炬计划项目一项，江西省重点科研项目两项。新型钨粉和碳化钨粉、新型粗硬质合金棒材、无磁合金模具三个新产品被列入国家重点新产品试产项目计划。公司技术研发能力始终保持国内先进地位，拥有省级技术中心、分析测试中心，拥有中高级专业技术人员、硕士研究生及以上人员113人。
